Brass Glow gives beyond repair musical instruments a fresh breath of life & light.

With a focus on up-cycling and sustainability, broken musical instruments are polished up and combined with structural components of salvaged and thrifted lamps. The results are repurposed pieces of decor that truly shine.

No scraps are wasted – every part of the instruments that come through the Brass Glow workshop are repurposed into something.

Hello! My name is Marc, the creator of Brass Glow Co.
I am a classically trained oboist and music teacher living in New London, PEI.
Brass Glow started on a typical PEI winter storm day with a broken clarinet, a lamp that was stashed in the attic, an idea, and nothing better to do.
When the piece turned out, I needed to make more! I secured an instrument supplier, took many trips to local thrift stores, and it quickly turned into a passion project. From that, Brass Glow was born!
There is a special magic in seeing the potential in a pile of odd & ends and scraps. Once you start picking up pieces, finding ones that fit together perfectly, a shape starts to form and before you know it, you’ve made something from nothing!
Working with salvaged items means you must work within your means, using the pieces and parts you have at your disposal, like a puzzle. It’s a wonderful endeavour that exercises learning when to push through an obstacle, when to pivot, and when to let go. Things rarely go according to plan in the workshop – and that’s where the magic happens!
Aside from Brass Glow, I regularly perform as second oboist with the PEI Symphony Orchestra and freelance within the community. I also own Music with Marc, teaching private music lessons out of my home.
